Gujarat to get 5 new medical sodalities from coming academic time 

The Gujarat government is each set to establish five new medical sodalities in the state at a cost of INR 2500 crore from the coming academic time. These new medical sodalities will add 500 medical seats to the being 5700 medical seats. 

After the Covid- 19 epidemic, the state is aiming to ameliorate the medical structure and also to make Gujarat a medical mecca of the country. 

The new medical sodalities will come up at Rajpipla( INR 529 crore), Navsari( INR 542 crore), Godhra( INR 512 crore), Porbandar( INR 390 crore), and Morbi( INR 627 crore) with 100 medical seats each. 

PM Modi's vision of at least one medical council in each quarter of India 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said numerous times that his government is working towards establishing at least one medical council in each quarter of the country under a central scheme. At present, the state has six government medical sodalities( GMC) and another eight medical sodalities run by Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society( GMERS). 

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been called for the setting up medical sodalities in every quarter to enable health services. From the coming academic time, five new sodalities will be set up in Morbi, Porbandar, Navsari, Godhra and Rajpipla under GMERS, ” said Dr R Dixit, fresh Director, Directorate of Medical Education and Research( Medical Education) in Gandhinagar, as reported by Ahmedabadmirror. 

“In adding to the new sodalities, Civil Hospital( Asarwa), Gandhinagar Civil Hospital and Sola Civil Hospital will be turned into super-speciality hospitals which will further strengthen health services and medical education, ” said Dr Dixit.
