DA Hike - Cabinet increases dearness allowance of central personnel from 17 to 28 percent

DA Hike - Cabinet increases dearness allowance of central personnel from 17 to 28 percent.

New Delhi: The central government has lifted the ban on DA for a year and a half. DA has been increased from 17 to 28 per cent. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. Amid rising inflation in the Corona period, the decision will benefit about 48.34 lakh central employees and 65.26 lakh pensioners. The Union Cabinet met directly on Wednesday, almost a year later.

It is learned that central employees will start getting DA to pensioners from September and they will get increased DA from July. However, the arrears remain in doubt. In the month of June, it was informed that the government will give DA prospectively, i.e. further DA will be given. No arrears from previous months will be added.

Central employees have not received DA and DR installments to pensioners for the last four periods. The DA for the period January 1, 2020 was suspended on April 13, 2013 for the next one year. The government wanted to save this capital for medical emergencies. It was withheld from July 1, 2020, January 1, 2021 to July 1, 2021.

Explain that Central Government employees currently get DA at the rate of 17 per cent. This rate is based on the revision made in July, 2019. In fact, the next amendment after July, 2019 was to be on January, 2020. In this way DA neither increased nor benefited the employees. So far DA has increased from 17 to 28 per cent DA. But due to the coronavirus epidemic, the revision of DA was stopped, so this revision is now possible.
